Ride through Cancer !

Of late I have been reading a book about Lance Armstrong,U.S cyclist and winner of Tour de France. The books named "It's not about the bike" deals with his career and his struggles with Cancer and life post cancer. It really amazes me as to how superlative human effort, faith and support can do wonders..even when the fight is against cancer.Lance's is a story of supreme human perseverance and effort.. an inspiration ! Very few can actually boast of such inner trength. I believe one should read the book simply for the sake of knowing the limits ..rather the infinite limits of human endeavour and endurance !

With Cancer taking so many lives everyday,
this book would raise a ray of hope and instill
a will to fight in the hearts of the ailing
many !Hope every one lives the Lance's way !

Cricket ,Greg and Ganguly !

It is really amazing to see the recent developments in and outside the cricket field about the "Greg-Ganguly" saga. One cannot but hope ourcountry was good in similar proportions in some other games too.At least then ,we all, the sport loving Indians could have been able to divert our attention from the fuss that's going around our cricket team. The story and saga gets compounded by the reckless presence and coverage of the media,to the extent that "exaggeration" is being taken to a new level by all the channels. A simple inadvertent comment made by the "prince of kalkoota" (as Geoffrey Boycot would love to say)to Harsha Bholge has given the Media serious business for a few months to say the least. Alas ! It has also spelled doom for "dada"It remains to be seen how the situation progress with our selectors and Greg at helm of affairs. Hope things turn out to be better for Indian team and the game in general !! I Remember the quote "God does not give you a wish without the power to fulfil the same"... Hope it holds true for the wishes of the cricket lovers in India too !

Wrong notions about NorthEast,India !

Hey man ! You are visiting northeast ?? Do not do that dude ! Are you crazy ? Any moment a bullet might whistle past you and if you are unlucky, it might whistle through you. Moreover it's a place of tribes..you know !.. those "jungle book" guys half naked roaming around..loves dog meat and spends night underneath the open sky.Wonder if they eat snake too ! ..Gosh ..I would never go there..!

The above very well summarises the conversation between two geographicaly novice,happy-go-lucky,foolish,conservative,egocentric,spice adoring,U.S (read dollar)loving paranoid middle class Indian. We all are taught geography at basic level, we are taught about our country, about the states, the rivers, the mountains, flora and fauna in this country of glorious varieties. We are also taught about the ethnic diversity of our country..how since ages people from different race, different origin, different colour have made this country their abode.
The advent and origin of aryan and dravidian cultures, their flourishing in different parts of our country, the linguistic anomalies, differences all start with civilization spearding its arms across geographical barriers.Starting from Kashmir, spanning the western frontiers to touching the sea water in Kanyakumari and ending in the land of Rabindranath Tagore, civilization has showered it's blessings on every one, every segment of the country. With time we have seen how the quality of life has improved with knowledge, education and knowhow of science and technology.Could it be any different in North East ? Could it that be civilization chose to be very partial & look down upon the "tribes" out there ? Could it be that they were immune to the wave of change happening in the world ? Could it be that they relish the meat of the "most faithful animal" rather than the "halloween turky" ? My roots being from north east, I have some ideas, some informations to share with our fellow Indian friends who fall into the category as in the first paragraph. Please folks,do some serious reading of your country's geography, demographic diversity. If possible make a trip to that region with your friends.Don't worry about the bullet!! More often than not it would miss your head ,if at all fired!! Allow your intellect to analyze how different is "civilization" there as compared to other parts of our country. We could have a discussion then !
