No to Racism !

The ongoing World Cup Extravaganza hasn't failed to capture our imagination. True to the spirit of this grand and diverse event,we have seen the game being played in an examplary display of brotherhood and sporting fervor, barring a few forgettable incidents on the field. One of the most vivid expressions, championing the cause of universal equality and peace was displayed during the quarter final match between Brazil and France. Zidane and Cafu read it and read it aloud that they are against racism of any form on and off the field. What a profound statement it was ! ... my best moment of the world cup so far. With the National Anthem of both countries being played amidst rousing emotions, it looked as if we were watching two armies getting ready for the battle. They were singing their anthem...it sounded like a rhythmic war cry. They were getting ready for another hurdle towards the coveted World Cup ! The entire stadium resembled the Colosseum of ancient Rome. Hey Ronaldinhos, Zidanes, Figos, Roonies of the world, you are not gladiators, you are players , you play for glory , you don't shed blood , you play for peace and tranquility. You exchange flags and jersey, you take the oath of fairness ! Precisely thus, the game of football you play and the World Cup involves people all over the globe, people bridging boundaries to share the excitement and emotion. Let's all wake up, let's stop hating others, let's say NO to Racism , let's defy the mundane boundaries and light the candles ! Berlin wall ..you exist no more ...Do you hear us ... Jerusalem ? Do you hear us ... Kashmir ? The sportsmen are showing us the way!! Whichever country wins the event, let's wish the World Cup spreads the message of peace, sanity and tranquility !
